Art Vaults: Season Four 12th July - 21st September
Contemporary art in medieval locations beneath Southampton is back for Season four from 12 July until 21 September.
This project, arranged by the arts organisation 'a space' has captured the attention of thousands of visitors in Seasons One, Two and Three and season Four features 11 of Southampton's hidden medieval vaults and structures. The project uses these medieval locations and the Bargate Monument Gallery as exhibition spaces for contemporary visual arts.
Each venue will contain work by a different exhibiting artist; the locations unique environments provoke a wide variety of responses. From the bold and sculptural to the delicate and fragile, from natural to synthetic, beauty and tragedy to the down right funny, the vaults provide an unusual and different experience for the artist and visitor alike. From sculptural works to light and video installations, the artists have made inventive use of these unique locations, and inspired connections with the vaults’ history and architecture. There's something for everyone.
The event is FREE and is open every weekend (Saturday and Sunday) from 12:00 noon until 4:00pm All the sites are in the Old Town of Southampton including:

Discovery Days - Guided Tours
Experience ArtVaults on a guided tour led by the project's curator and a local historian. Every Sunday 20th July - 14th September, leaving the Bargate Monumnet Gallery at 1pm. To reserve your free space call 023 8033 8778 or e-mail for details.
