Ejector Seat Festival: Various Dates

Ejector Seat are organising some events and activities at the Band Stand in Palmerston Park, one of the City's Green Flag Central Parks.
The Free events include live music from local bands, local short films shown by City Eye, food and refreshments, mini market including Tape Club, Yada Yada, Sotones, lots of arts & crafts and some of Southampton's Log Collective artists making a mess on a canvas.
Saturday 12th July
From 3pm-7pm.
Robin Um Soy - A beautiful example of modern instrumental music.
Building repeated layers of riffs over each other that tower and swell. Much like some of Papa M's (on Mogwai’s label) work. Atmosphere created in simple layers that eventually require real concentration to keep track of. Challenging yet thoughtlessly enjoyable just to wash over you.
Michael Wookey - Dark folk baroque from a boy who now lives in Paris.
He loves to get his hands on all sorts of instruments, so long as they have keys on them. In his entourage, he has a piano, a Wurlitzer, an optigan, a mellotron, an omnichord, a field organ, a toy piano, a philicorda, a Casio sk-1... and probably more we don't know about.
Peter Lyons - Mr. Lyons makes some of the best pop.
Combining elements of Electronica, Folk and Twee Pop, he lies somewhere in the realms of Four Tet, Pet Sounds, and some various records that came out of Anticon. Awesome and beautiful both at the same time.
Yaaard - Released on Unnecessary Friction Records all the way via Seattle/Minneapolis, in the US these local veins has special blood in them.
A playful drive through minimal electronic sounds capes passing by sleepy dreamy vistas and childish sound-collages.
Saturday 16th August
From 3pm-7pm.
Co-Pilgrim - Flying back home Melbourne, Australia.
Co-pilgrim is a two piece of softly whispered strummed guitars from Mike Gale (Black Nielson) and Alysia Manceau. Having loved the work of Brian Wilson, and more they lament on the usual subjects. The songs are really defined by Gale stretching syllables entire bars. Some amazing vocal powers are at work here. Dark and light provide an ideal stage to show off uses of melancholic yet warm moments.
The All Singing Razor Blades - A curious offering from one of Southampton's best bands. Who knows what goes through their minds before putting music to record, with what appears to be a complete lack of planning going into the songs. And that’s a good thing.
Jackie Paper - One quarter of promising local indie band Thomas Tantrum. Will Oldham musical references abound, he manages to make a guitar and a voice his own.
Hælu - Invited back to the event to let go his AFX/Squarepusher influenced music. With an enthusiasm for Warp/Planet Mu and anything pushing the IDM bracket.
Location
Palmerston Park is located within easy reach of the city centre and has good links with public transport. If you are using Sat Nav, the post code for this area is SO14 1LL and it is advisable to use city centre car parks.
