Cruise Ship Movements

Southampton – Cruise Capital of Northern Europe

Southampton has many exciting attractions, but few can match the magnificent spectacle of the world’s greatest liners and cruise ships sailing into the port or embarking on a voyage of discovery and glamour. For the most up to date schedule of cruise ship arrivals and departures, please visit ABP's website.

People travel from all over the country to join cruises, to wave off loved ones – or simply to observe these majestic vessels at close quarters.

Their presence harks back to the golden age of the liners when now legendary ships such as Queen Mary, Queen Elizabeth and the Canberra, were a constant sight on the waterfront skyline.

Southampton is today firmly established as the UK’s number one cruise port and the city has seen an unprecedented number of ship namings in recent years such as the Arcadia, Oriana and Queen Mary 2. In 2008, naming ceremonies have been held for P&O's Ventura and Royal Caribbean's Independence of the Seas.

For many years Southampton has been home to P&O Cruises (UK) and Cunard whilst Royal Caribbean Cruise Line, Fred Olsen cruise Line, Princess Cuises, Crystal Cruises, Costa Cruises, Saga Cruises and Thompson Cruises are all regular visitors to the port.

A comprehensive list of all other shipping movements in the port can also be be viewed via ABP's website.

Viewing Areas
Southampton is fortunate to have many vantage points along Southampton Water from which to view the ships arriving and departing. The map below illustrates some of these locations.
