Our Collections
Southampton Archives has records about Southampton's past and its people from 1199 up to the present day. Our collections amount to almost 2 linear miles and are stored in environmentally controlled strong rooms. You can find many different types of records amongst our collections. These include charters, minute books, letters and diaries, registers, title deeds, maps, plans and photographs. You may find sources to help trace family history or the history of your house, street or school.

How to find what you want
Indexes and catalogues for collections held in the Archives are available in the Reading Room. A number of our catalogues appear on the Access to Archives web site. The A2A database contains catalogues describing archives held in local archives throughout England dating from the eighth century to the present day. It is free to use and offers key word searches.
