Southampton in Bloom 2008


The Southampton in Bloom competition is organised by a group of hard working volunteers who are passionate about gardening, with the support of Southampton City Council. Many of the volunteers are members of the Royal Horticultural Society. The closing date is 7 July 2008 and judging begins week commencing 14 July 2008 but we will let you know when the judges will be coming.

Winning Criteria -

Our judges will be looking for:
• Health & vigour of plants
• Cultivation and maintenance of plants
• Originality of plants chosen
• Combination and balance of colours
• Best use of space and environmental awareness
• Lawns and non planted space, paths, structures and cleanliness (where applicable)

Presentation - September 24, 2008 (provisional)

2. First time entry, best private garden6. Best individual garden in sheltered housing11. Best public house
3. Best cottage style garden7. Best communal area in sheltered housing12. Best public or commercial building

Challenge your friends, family and neighbours to see who can grow the tallest SUNFLOWER! There is a cash prize and a Nursery voucher for the winning adult entry and a prize and family day out for the winning child’s entry under 16’s).
