Southampton Libraries are your gateway to a world of reading, information, knowledge and learning. Anyone is welcome to use the library to study, read books, find information, ask a question, meet friends and generally relax. Membership is free and you can join at any library or join online.

The National Year of Reading is now 'Reading for Life'. 'Reading for Life' continues to promote the NYR's key reading messages. Click on the Reading for Life logo in the right hand column to find out more

To enable essential staff training all libraries with the exception of the Central library will be closed on Thursday 9 July 2009.

The Central Library will operate normal opening hours 9.30-7.00pm.

During this period you can borrow and return items to the Central library, renew via the library website http://library.southampton.gov.uk or telephone the renewals hotline on 023 8083 2597
