Books and information to communities not able to get to a static library - timetable available.

Who can use this service:

This service is available to all residents of Southampton.

Charges:

There is no charge for using the mobile library and books are free to borrow. There are small charges for borrowing adult books on cassette and CD.

Ways To Apply:

Customers complete a joining form and show some identification e.g. driving licence, bank statement, family allowance book, electricity/water/council tax bill. Unlike static libraries, the mobile library issues one family ticket. This ticket is available for use not only by the individual named on the joining form, but also by any member of his or her family living at the same address. The ticket is kept on the Mobile Library at all times.

Details of service:

The mobile library visits around 50 locations in Southampton and readers can use the library at any of these stops. There is a selection of novels, non-fiction, large print and children's books. Space on the vehicle is limited so reference books and more specialised topics are held at the larger local libraries. There are no internet access on the mobile library.The Mobile Library visits the same stops every week, except on Saturdays where the stops are visited fortnightly.
