Who can use this service:

Anyone is welcome to use the library to study, read books, find information, ask a question, meet friends and generally relax. Membership is free and you can join at any library or join online.

Macmillan Library Project

A new scheme launched in January 2008 means that local people living with cancer and their families and carers now have greater access to cancer information. The project is a partnership between Macmillan Cancer Support and Southampton City Council.

Public Library User Survey

Southampton Libraries are great and getting better – feedback from user survey. In October 2006 we carried out a survey of adult library users in all our libraries. Over 3100 people took the time to rate our services and comment on their local library.

You'll find a children's section in every library in Southampton. We have all sorts of books for children of every age - from board books for babies to graphic novels for teens.

Mobile libraries

If you can't get to the library... the library can come to you.

Computer and Internet Use

Libraries provide free access to computers to use the Internet and Microsoft Office software including spreadsheets, presentations, word processing, databases and Publisher.

Family and local history

Discover family and local history in Southampton. The Local Studies and Maritime Library has material on Southampton and Hampshire including: books, journals, newspapers, maps, photographs and illustrations.

Learning

All Southampton libraries have information on education, opportunities, employment advice and job searching. These pages tell you about the services on offer.

Information and research

Southampton reference library offers a free public information service. We will tackle any enquiry, everything from the points of law to movies or information about your local community.
