Music and Films

There are collections of music CDs and films on DVD in our larger libraries - Central, Shirley, Portswood, Bitterne, Lordshill and Woolston. There is music to suit most tastes including pop, classical, blues, world and easy listening. Films include the latest new releases, drama, action, comedy and family titles. Central and Portswood libraries offer Bollywood DVDs.

DVDs/CDs can be hired from the library for seven days. If you would like to renew your CD/DVD the hire charge will be payable each time. You can renew by telephone Tel 023 8083 2664 or via our website.

Watch out for the 3 for 2 offers in libraries. Hire 2 DVDS/CDs and get the third free. You can mix and match.

Search the library catalogue to find out what we have in stock. If the DVD/CD you want is at another local library, reserve it free of charge and pick it up at your local library.

Music Groups - request service

Music groups that meet and rehearse in Southampton can request sets of music. We can get full orchestral sets and 40 vocal scores. There is a £5 charge for each set ordered.

Groups should give a minimum of six weeks notice and apply in person at any library. Your group will be issued with a special library card - a named person will look after the card, order sets and be responsible for items borrowed on the card.
