Adult social care

Older lady being helped by her carer to make cakesWe provide a range of services for adults with long and short term health and care needs. Together with the Clinical Commissioning Group, the NHS and voluntary organisations, we work to make sure that you have access to the services that you need to live as independently as possible. We also offer advice and support to carers and relatives of people receiving, or in need of, our services.

Consultation - Redesign of some Adult Social Care provision

Your City, Your SaySouthampton City Council is consulting on the way some of its directly provided services, commissioned respite and day care services are delivered. These proposals are subject to a 90 day consultation period, which ends on 23 October 2014.

To find out more about the proposals, please see the adult social care consultation page.

Office moves

Some teams will be moving offices at the beginning of August. The Approved Mental Health Professional Team and Long Term Team 2 will both be moving to Herbert Collins House. Some contact details will be changing. For more information please see the downloadable letters below.

Comments, Compliments and Complaints

How are we doing?

What is a Local Account?
In 2011, the Department of Health (DH) recommended that all local authorities' Adult Social Care directorates publish an annual Local Account. The Local Account is a report for local people setting out what we did over the last year, what our customers have told us and how we plan to improve. The report also contains real stories of people who have received adult social care as well as comments from people about their experiences.

How can I access the latest Local Account?
The 2011/12 Local Account is available to read in the downloadable documents box below.

If you need information about children's social care please see our children's social care pages.

Consult and Challenge

Adult Social Care works within the spirit of co-production, which means involving service users and carers at every stage. Consult and Challenge is the name of the Southampton co-production group and is attended by a committed and friendly group of service users and carers, who all have different backgrounds and experiences and champion the idea that people are all ‘experts by experience.' The group generally meets once a month and is based at SPECTRUM Centre for Independent Living. For more information contact
