Putting people first - personal budgets

The way we provide social care for adults is changing.  Traditionally, people were matched to the services available rather than having care tailored to meet their personal choices and lifestyle. As a result the best outcomes for people and carers were not always achieved. Putting people first is a new approach to adult social care which focuses on your right to decide what happens to you and you can control the support you receive. People assessed as eligible for support from adult social care can now be allocated their own care budget to buy in the services that they want, rather than just the services we are able to provide.
