"Managing to Safeguard" is a new management development programme for independent sector and local authority social care providers (e.g. residential care / domiciliary care / day care) to meet the CQC “Essential standards of quality and safety”. Any person who manages / supervises the practice of others would be appropriate to attend.
The first course ran on a "pilot" basis in April. The method of provision ia a 2 day, interactive, face to face course covering:
• Managing systems
• Managing staff
• Managing care delivery
This is provided 1 day per week for 2 weeks with opportunities for reflection and work based research in between.
This course has been developed in response to:
• the CQC “Essential standards of quality and safety” and to
• a range of safeguarding issues that have been referred to / dealt with by the SCC Safeguarding In Provider Services (SIPS) team.
The aim of this programme is to provide training for managers / senior care staff of social care services which will enable them to develop relevant policy and practice in their own settings to manage their service effectively in order to provide good quality and safe care services to adults who are vulnerable and avoid safeguarding issues arising as far as possible. The SCC “Best Practice in Care Checklist” will be available as a tool which will help managers to assess, evidence and meet the “Essential standards of quality and safety.”
