Southampton Day Services has a workshop based at Tools for Self Reliance (TFSR), a charity based in the New Forest. TFSR is a charity working to lessen poverty in Africa by collecting and refurbishing old tools and equipment.
A small group of City Limits’ clients are supported to clean and refurbish hand tools that are used in blacksmith and carpenter kits which are then packed and shipped to some of the poorest regions in Africa. The work that clients undertake at TFSR is aimed at increase practical skills and confidence, and improving social skills in preparation for the workplace. TFSR also provides people with severe disabilities with a chance to experience work.
