Holcroft House
Holcroft House is situated in Thornhill in the east of Southampton. It is a residential home for 34 residents with mild to moderate dementia. The building itself is a single storey, with an enclosed courtyard garden with shrubs and flower beds. There is a paved area with patio furniture so the residents can sit and enjoy the sunny days.
There are 34 single bedrooms, fully furnished, and each has its own wash basin. All rooms have television points. 7 rooms are equipped with electric hospital beds for residents who require a little more assistance.
Holcroft House promotes small group living. Each section is individually named and each living area has a lounge and dining area with its own kitchenette. This allows residents to continue to be able to make a cup of tea as they would in their own home.
Residents are able to use any of the lounges or dining rooms as they wish. There is also a hairdressing room. The hairdresser visits twice a week. A library service delivers a selection of books which are available within our library area.
We offer a daily choice of menus, with all diets catered for. Hot and cold drinks and snacks are available at any time. For anyone who requires assistance with choosing from the menu, we have a picture menu showing the dishes of the day.
Monthly residents meetings are held in the lounge with minutes for everyone to view. The residents are encouraged to attend these meetings to share ideas about social activities, outings and menus.
We also provide a daily programme of activities to meet all our residents’ needs, on an individual basis. These include bingo, quizzes and armchair aerobics. We also host outside entertainers on a regular basis. The staff ensure residents privacy at all times and wish to support the residents in all their daily needs.
All our staff have received specialist training in the care of people with dementia and have undertaken a thorough induction leading to NVQ training.
We have close links with the local GPs, chiropodist and Community mental health services.
