Woodside Lodge

Woodside LodgeWoodside Lodge is located in a residential part of Maybush in the south west of Southampton. It offers residential accommodation for 27 people who are 65 or older and who require 24 hour support because of dementia.

A community day centre for older people operates from a separate unit on the same site which is run by the Southampton care association.

Woodside Lodge has two small lounge and dining rooms, a large lounge and dining room, a quiet lounge, a smoking room and communal lounge area. In order to create a more intimate and homely living environment, the bedroom and lounge facilities are grouped to create separate living areas. All residents have their own single room on the ground floor.

The home has its own hairdressing facilities and a hairdresser visits two mornings a week. There is also a visiting chiropodist, a dentist and an optician. Entertainment and daily activities are on offer and residents’ guests are welcome to stay for lunch at a nominal charge.Woodside Lodge exterior

There is a large garden at the rear of the home with many mature trees and shrubs for people to sit and walk in. It is fully accessible to wheelchair users. There is a sensory garden in the inner courtyard, planned to provide colour and fragrance throughout the seasons.

The staff have close working relationships with GPs, district nurses, psychogeriatricians, community psychiatric nurses and other health professionals including chiropodists, dentists and opticians.
