Benefits

The benefit service is responsible for the administration and payment of housing benefit for local authority and housing association tenants, local housing allowance for private tenants, and for council tax benefit. In addition, using the information provided, our benefit officers are able to advise whether there is a potential entitlement to other state benefits.

The service is based in the city centre, working with other departments and agencies to ensure maximum take up of benefits.

We have been made aware that a council benefit customer has been contacted and asked for their full bank details - indicating that they worked for the city council. Please be advised that under no circumstances would this happen and should you receive a request for this information please report the matter to the police.
