What do Neighbourhood Wardens do

  • Daily visits to the neighbourhood to improve safety and well-being.
  • Liaise with Housing Services, Neighbourhood Services, Environmental Health, Youth Service, the Police, Probation, Health, Ambulance and Fire Services
  • Work closely with community groups, agencies and individuals to empower local people to address local issues.
  • Support older people, vulnerable residents and victims of crime.
  • Help co-ordinate and monitor council services in neighbourhoods.
  • Work to maintain the good appearance of communal areas including some cleaning of entrances, refuse areas and shared areas of the council’s low-level blocks of flats.
  • Minor repairs to communal areas, as appropriate.
  • Report council property repairs, as required.
  • Arrange the removal of graffiti, litter and bulky rubbish, as required.
  • Respond to minor anti-social behaviour and neighbour dispute incidents.
  • Report abandoned vehicles and monitor their removal.
  • Help to keep empty properties safe and secure, where possible.
