Southampton City Council’s communities team works closely with communities, other council departments and organisations such as Southampton voluntary services and the Police. Our aim is to strengthen communities so that we can build a safer and stronger city.
Some of our work includes:
• Working with the police and other agencies to stop incidents of hate crime and harassment.
• Promote equality and challenge discrimination.
• Working to increase the numbers of people volunteering and the promotion of active citizenship.
• Brokering the involvement of businesses in community projects.
• The promotion and development of intergenerational projects.
• Supporting other council services to be accessible to all customers.
• The promotion and development of community projects.
• Bringing people of different cultures together to build a stronger Southampton.
