The Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading Regulations 2008 replace large parts of the existing laws enforced by Trading Standards and add some additional protection. These Regulations, which are being referred to as the CPRs, implement an EU Directive and come with some new ways in which Trading Standards Officers can seek to enforce the law.
The Business Protection from Unfair Marketing Regulations 2008 ensure that businesses retain existing protection which would otherwise have been lost and add some additional protection from aggressive marketing. These regulations are being referred to as the BPRs.
