Loan sharks are criminals who lend money at extremely high rates of interest, they do not have the required licence under the Consumer Credit Act and cause misery to their victims.

Southampton now has a dedicated team committed to tackling loan sharks.

If you report a loan shark to us, and we can prove that they are acting illegally, we will act.

All reports are received in confidence, our dedicated telephone reporting line is open 24/7 365 days a year.

So far the Illegal Money lending Team has:

• Prosecuted loan sharks for assaulting customers
• Prosecuted loan sharks for firearms and drugs offences, extortion, and organised crime
• Written-off £’000’s of debt
