Grants - 2013/14 and beyond consultation

This consultation is now closed. The results of the consultation will be published in March in a report to the council's Cabinet. Further details about this report will be added to this page as soon as they are available.

Background
On 14 March 2011 Cabinet delegated authority to officers “to conduct a review of whether it would be more appropriate to move towards commissioning and purchasing some of the services that are currently grant aided”.

The council is now reviewing and consulting on how future grants can be allocated in a way that

  • supports strategic priorities

  • avoids potential duplication

  • achieves best value, and

  • meets the needs of the residents of Southampton

The council consulted between 8 November 2011 and 3 February 2012 on a proposal to move towards outcome-based commissioned grants.

Examples of outcome-based commissioned grants
At the bottom of this page are two examples of how other local authorities use outcome-based commissioned grants - Bristol City Council and Isle of Wight Council.
