Benefits advice for older people

Introduction

Thousands of older people are missing out on benefits. One in four older people are still not claiming the basic welfare benefits that they are entitled to. This information pack describes the main benefits available to you. Each section begins with a brief explanation about who it is for, so you can easily select the sections which seem to fit your situation. You may find more than one section applies to you, so read all the relevant parts. If you need more advice or want to make a benefit claim refer to the “Help!” section at the back for contact details.

This guide should only be used as a checklist for benefits you might be entitled to. In most cases you will need more information and will need to speak with someone and to fill out an application form.
