What decorating is available?
Two rooms can be decorated. A hallway or hall, stairs & landing would count as one room. The Council will provide a wide choice of gloss and emulsion paint colours from which the tenant can choose their colour schemes. There is no charge for any materials or labour unless the tenant would prefer to have wallpaper and, in that case, the tenant would have to supply and pay for the wallpaper themselves.

You might qualify if you are a Southampton Council Tenant and if every adult in the property has reached 70 years or is receiving one of the following disability benefits:

• Attendance allowance
• Disability living allowance
• Industrial injuries benefit
• War disablement pension
• Incapacity benefit only if it is at the long term rate
• Employment and Support Allowance: Main Phase
• Housing benefit or income support only if it includes a disability premium or higher pensioner premium

• The tenant must have lived in this property for at least five years
• The tenant must not have an active “Right to Buy” application
• The rent account must not be in arrears
• Decorating must not have had carried out, under this scheme, during the previous five years
