How to apply for the service

If you think a family may need support from us, you can refer them to us using the contact details below. If a family already has an allocated social worker, they will carry out the assessment for us.

You can also request an application for an assessment by phone using the contact details below. This is only needed if the family involved is not already known to Social Services.

Regulation 33 visits

Our children's homes are visited once a month as set out in Regulation 33 of the Children’s Homes Regulation (2001), and the Care Standards Act (2000).

The Regulation 33 visitor is someone who is not directly involved with running the home, and they make sure that each home follows the guidance set out in the Children's Homes National Minimum Standards (2011).

Following each visit the visitor writes a report that is sent to the person responsible for running the home and to Ofsted.

The report is a combination of:

  • the Regulation 33 visitor's own direct observations

  • conversations with resident children and young people

  • conversations with staff

  • conversations and/or feedback from families and carers

  • reading key records and reports which provide insights into the way the establishment operates on a daily basis and the appropriateness of how care and control is provided
