Get Active Leisure Discount Scheme

If you are a resident living within the Southampton City Council boundary and currently receiving benefits you can make some great savings off the cost of activities organised by the Sports Development Unit, including the 'Return to Sport programme'.

The Get Active subscription* will give you a discounted rate on a range of non instructed activities at off peak times. Please see below for more information or contact the Leisure Venues.

Allotments - The Get Active subscription* will also give you a 50% discount from your rental on your allotment plot if you are not already receiving a discount. All you need to do is subscribe to ‘Get Active’ when you apply for your Smartcities card.

How to Apply for a Smartcities Card

Applications for Smartcities cards can be made in Gateway in One Guildhall Square, a Southampton library or a local housing office.

A proof of personal identification containing your date of birth and a proof of address will need to be seen. A good quality colour passport photograph will also be required (Gateway can take your photograph for the card, but this is not a guaranteed service). For the Get Active subscription evidence of being in receipt of one of the following benefits will be required:

• Housing benefits
• Income support/guarantee pension credit
• Council tax main benefit
• Job seekers income based
• Incapacity benefit/ESA*
• Severe disablement allowance*
• Disability living allowance/attendance*

An unwaged spouse, partner or unwaged children under 18 also qualify if the main applicant is in receipt of one of the top four benefits. *These benefits are for individual claimants only. Therefore partners/children may not be eligible for this scheme.
