If you would like to use your Smartcities card as your library card and you have completed the relevant section of the Smartcities application form (page 3) the answer is yes. Take it to your local library and staff will do the rest. Once it is registered you can borrow and return items and use the computers at any library. If you have not completed the relevant section of the form, Please contact the Smarticities Office.
You can continue to use your existing library card and don’t need to register your Smartcities card. If you decide you want to use your Smarticties instead, please talk to staff and they can arrange this for you.

Your PIN is a 4 digit number that you will be given when you register your Smarticities card. Together with your Smartcities/library card it provides you with free computer use in the library and access to your library record, where you can renew and reserve items and change your PIN.
Access your library record.
You can borrow 30 items from the library including bestselling books, blockbuster films, the latest music CDs. There are also large print books, talking books on CD and MP3, language packs, European/international literature and books for children, maps, music scores and business information plus much more. Items can be borrowed and returned to any library.
You can access computers across all libraries free of charge for a maximum of 2 hours per day. You can surf the net, access email, type up CVs, apply for jobs etc. There are charges for printing. You can book computers in advance at the Central and Bitterne libraries using the in-library booking system.
You can contact the call centre as listed above in ‘how do I contact libraries,’ alternatively you can renew items yourself using your library/Smarticities card and PIN.
