Nationality Checking Service

We operate on an appointment only basis; you will not be seen without an appointment.

It’s simple to make an appointment, just telephone or email us using the details at the bottom of this page.

When you book an appointment we will give you more information on what you must bring with you. But in summary:

• You should request application forms and information from the Nationality Enquiries Team on 0845 010 5200 or download the application forms from www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/britishcitizenship

• You must make your application in person. If you are married on in a civil partnership and want to make a joint application, then both of you must visit in person. If you have children under 18 years old, they do not have to be present.

• You must bring the following documents with you:

  * Completed citizenship application form
  * Original copy of you successful 'Life in the UK' test certificate (Naturalisation only)
  * All the necessary documents as explained in the application form guideline notes
  * The citizenship application fee (Payable to the Home Office)

Individual applications

Family application

Family applications can only be made when the application is made together. Family Applications (2 adults and 2 children) will not be charged more than £190.00 per family.

Payment must be made at the time of booking and can be made using a Credit or Debit Card in person or by telephone. Prices are inclusive of VAT.

Cancellation Policy

When the fee for your checking service appointment has already been paid, a refund will be subject to the following conditions:

1. A full refund if three or more calendar months written notice is given
2. Fifty per cent refund if 2-3 months written notice is given
3. No refund is given if less than one calendar month written notice (or failure to cancel) or due to circumstances beyond the control of the authority which deem for the service not to go ahead.

We want you to have the best information and advice available. The person checking your form is not able to give you advice on nationality matters. Whilst your application is not given priority over any other received, you will be able to leave our offices knowing that every part of the application and your documentation has been checked and completed.

Forms and documentation that has been checked completely, are generally processed more quickly because there is no need for the Home Office to request missing or incomplete information.
