The second phase of our improvement programme is due to commence during March 2012.
The six existing cremators are scheduled to be replaced with four modern, more efficient cremators and additional abatement plant is to be installed that will enable mercury emissions to be abated.
This programme of work will not only enable us to work in a more sustainable way but will ensure that we comply with the new requirements coming into force under the Environmental Protection Act.
It is anticipated that the work will take approximately 78 weeks and be completed before May 2013.
Work will be carried out on the site between 8am and 8pm during the winter and between 8am and 10pm during the summer months, seven days a week. We have made arrangements for site deliveries to take place on Saturdays throughout this period to minimise disruption to traffic during busy periods.
The majority of the works will take place inside the building and we do not anticipate that any disruption or inconvenience will be caused to local residents.
