Southampton Crematorium Roof Works
Work has commence at Southampton Crematorium to undertake essential maintenance and repair work to the roof which will greatly enhance the longevity of the building. This programme of work is scheduled to take place between Monday 21 July 2014 and Friday 24 October 2014.
To keep disruption to a minimum during this period, and to avoid disturbing cremation services, the work will mainly be carried out between 17.00 hrs to dusk, Monday to Friday, and 07.00 hrs to 17.00 hrs on Saturdays and Sundays.
It will be necessary to erect scaffolding around the building but this will mainly be behind the Crematorium, out of sight to visitors, with the exception of any that is required for contractor and public safety.
Deliveries associated with the work will be scheduled for early mornings or at weekends to eliminate any disturbance to bereaved families attending services or visiting the Crematorium grounds.

The improvement programme at Southampton Crematorium has now been completed
The six Tabo Evans cremators have been replaced with four modern Facultative Technologies cremators that are more efficient and the mercury abatement plant has been installed.
This work has not only enabled us to work in a more sustainable way but will ensure that we comply with the new requirements of the Environmental Protection Act.
A new and modern Book of Remembrance Chapel has been constructed and the Chapels have been refurbished.
