Ethnicity

The latest ethnicity population estimates from the Office for National Statistics are based on the Mid Year Population Estimate 2009 suggest that Southampton is becoming a more diverse city with the non-white population now standing at 13.1% of the population.

The largest non-white population in Southampton is the Asian or British Asian which make up 6.4% of the population followed by the Other White population which make up 4.3% of the population.

The estimates are provided by age, sex and ethnic group as defined in the 2001 Census and are available to download at the bottom of the page.
