Bevois ward has the river to the east and neighbouring wards are Portswood, Freemantle and Bargate. It has a population of around 15,900. This is a ward of contrasts, with a mix of terraced houses, flats and the Royal Southampton Hospital to the west and tower blocks and light industrial areas in the east. The ward is home to the largest number of black and ethnic businesses, communities and faith organisations within Southampton. Although there is limited open space, central parks are very close by.
