To approve the acceptance of this funding (£241,941) to be managed by the Director of Public Health under delegated powers.

This report is submitted for consideration as urgent under Rule 16 of the Access to Information Procedure Rules in part 4 of the Council’s Constitution, notice having been given to the Chair of Overview and Scrutiny Management Committee and the public. The matter requires an urgent decision and cannot be deferred for 5 clear days for the following reasons:

• The acceptance of the funding has to be signed off by 21 August 2013 and returned forthwith to Portsmouth City Council for the Big Lottery award, otherwise funding will be lost.

Not to accept this funding: this was rejected as this was a bid which meets key needs identified in the Joint Strategic Needs Assessment (JSNA). In addition this was a joint bid with Portsmouth City Council and non-acceptance would destabilise their part of the project.
