Update from the Secondary Phase Inspector
To consider verbal updates regarding:
- Timeline for implementation
- Funding and resources
- Process for ratification of Agreed
Syllabus
Minutes:

The group heard an
update on the Agreed Syllabus from the Secondary Phase Inspector,
with the following points to note:-
|
|
- that editing of the
Agreed Syllabus to bring it up to date was nearly complete and that
copies would be sent to SACRE members before 25 June 2010 (date to
be signed off) to provide reading time. It was noted that most of
the syllabus remained unchanged, but that a summary of changes
would be provided.
- that SACRE members who were to attend on 25 June
2010 could not come back to Southampton to make further changes. An
Agreed Syllabus Conference was not a working group.
- that on 25 June 2010, the Chair and/or Vice Chair
were required to attend the meeting at the Dame Judith Centre,
Portsmouth.
- that after 25 June 2010, further changes could be
made to the document if required by the group before the end of the
summer term.
- that in the autumn term, it might be appropriate to
have a separate meeting for the Agreed Syllabus. It was recommended
that Sian Roberts and Judith Lowndes
attend to assist with any queries regarding the
syllabus.
- that the Agreed
Syllabus could be ratified if there were minor changes to be made,
but that major changes would need to be discussed with other
SACREs and therefore, should be
avoided.
- that the Hampshire Agreed Syllabus Conference was
due to be held in November, hence, the Southampton SACRE would aim
for the same time.
- that on 28 June 2010, there was to be a QDCA meeting
(Qualification Development and Communication Association).
- that the Agreed Syllabus Conference CD Rom was due
to be launched in January 2011, but that training was needed before
it was to go online in September 2010.
- a discussion took place regarding the best way to
promote the newly Agreed Syllabus Conference Syllabus and work of
SACRE and ways to deliver training.
- Sian Roberts noted
that RE network panels could be an effective way to deliver
training.
- Tony Blackshaw
suggested that it might be helpful to have meetings of SACRE
members with RE teachers to assist colleagues through practical
meetings.

|
RESOLVED that the
Chair and Sue Langdon were to look into ways to develop
relationships and educate others on the changes to the Agreed
Syllabus Conference.
