A number of City communities are poorly served by a bus service.
These include some of our more deprived communities. This proposed
service attempts to overcome three of these bus black spots in one
go.
Firstly the need for residents in Thornhill to access services in
Thornhill park road including GP services. Secondly the need for a
regular bus service for the Harefield estate including an evening
and Sunday service. Thirdly the need for a regular bus service
running along Hill lane serving communities in Freemantle and
Shirley wards.
Many attempts have been made in the past to address these issues
directly with the bus companies but they have fallen on deaf
ears.
The bus companies being private organisations are motivated by the
need to make a profit and whilst this is unlikely to change without
radical national legislation the communities affected deserve
better and demand action now.
