Acceptance of European Social Funding for NEET provision

To consider a report of the Cabinet Member for Children’s Services and Learning seeking acceptance of funding received from the Skills Funding Agency.

 

The Council has successfully applied to the Skills Funding Agency for a European Social Fund grant of £3,067,567 over a 3-year period 2011-13. The application has been submitted jointly with local authorities in Hampshire, Portsmouth and the Isle of Wight, with Southampton as the lead authority. The application is to fund targeted provision to support young people aged 16-19 not in education employment or training (NEET), and young people aged 14-16 identified at risk of becoming NEET. The funding will enable new projects to improve post-16 progression rates into learning and reduce the number of young people NEET in Southampton and the wider Hampshire area.. A decision is required to accept the grant funding of £3,067,567.

Slippage/Variations/Reason for Withdrawal: The Skills Funding Agency has issued notification regarding the European Funding for NEETS provision advising that the bid for grant funding had been unsuccessful. Decision allowing the acceptance of funding is now no longer required and the item has been withdrawn.
