Biography:

Cllr Warwick Payne is Cabinet Member for Housing and Leisure and was elected in 2007 in Woolston ward, where he lives with his wife, Louise and their daughter, Tabitha.

Born in Southampton, Cllr Payne went to Oaklands Community School, Taunton’s College and Southampton University, where he read History before taking a Masters Degree in Media at Southampton Solent University.

He then worked for Southampton City Council in the Social Services and Leisure Directorates.  After that he trained as a journalist and joined the Hampshire Chronicle in 2002, working his way up to Chief Reporter and winning regional and national press awards. He left the paper in May 2012 on being appointed to the City Council Cabinet.

Outside of work his interests include local emerging music bands, classic cars, cycling, golf, real ale and creative writing. He is a published author and his debut book, The Portland Contract, was released by Olympia Publishers in early 2013.
