Is subject to call in?: Yes

Purpose:

To consider a report of the Head of Highways and Parking Services detailing a sustained objection to recent proposals to introduce a permit parking scheme in Chetwynd Drive, as part of the formal legal process of consultation with regard to Traffic Regulation Orders.

Decision:

On consideration of the report of the Head of Highways and Parking Services detailing the proposal to introduce a modified permit parking scheme in Chetwynd Drive Cabinet made the following decision:

(i)  That the proposed permit parking scheme in Chetwynd Drive, as shown at Appendix 1 be approved.

(ii)  That the permit parking restrictions should operate from 1st October to 31st May of each year.

(iii)  That a commitment be made to review the scheme 12 calendar months from the scheme’s implementation.

Alternative options considered:

Leaving the road unrestricted was rejected on the basis that it would not address residents’ concern over obstruction and the level of university-related parking.
