Decision details

Disposal Of HRA Empty Properties

Decision Maker: Cabinet

Decision status: Recommendations Approved

Is Key decision?: Yes

Is subject to call in?: Yes

Purpose:

To consider a report of the Cabinet Member for Housing seeking approval for the sale of empty Housing Revenue Acoount dwellings

Decision:

(i)  To approve a policy for the sale of up to 50 HRA dwellings per annum where:

·  The sale is in accordance with the General Housing Consents 2005; and

·  The council can keep 100% of the sale proceeds

(ii)  To delegate authority to the Environment Director to determine which dwellings should be disposed of having regard to the criteria set out in this report.

Reasons for the decision:

The voluntary sale of up to 50 HRA properties is not currently possible under delegated powers as it is a new policy.  This has to be approved by Cabinet.

Alternative options considered:

The proposal in this report is one of the options for helping to close the resources gap in the HRA capital programme.
