Localism Act 2011: Consultation

Report of the Cabinet Member for Housing seeking to set the strategic direction of the Local Housing Authority in relation to the housing provisions of the Localism Act 2011 in order that consultation with stakeholders is undertaken.

 

The Localism Act 2011 introduced a range of duties and powers on the Authority  in relation to the provision and letting of social housing including:

  • to have a Tenancy  Strategy in place by January 2013, to set out high level objectives for Southampton which registered providers will have regard to in letting social housing;
  • as a  stock holding local Authority  SCC will need to develop a landlord tenancy policy in relation to the new range of tenure types
  • to ensure the above is developed with consideration of the local allocations policy and homelessness strategy and in consultation with registered providers
