Biography:

Councillor Jacqui Rayment has represented Bevois Ward in Southampton as a Labour Councillor since 2002. She has been a Councillor since 1997, and became Leader of the Council on 25th April 2013.

Having been born in Southampton, Jacqui knows the city and its diverse communities well, and has worked to support many local residents with the issues that concern them. She has particularly championed the cause of older people with campaigns to improve their health and wellbeing. She currently holds the Communities Portfolio which includes a range of Council Services including Community Safety, Health & Well Being, Enforcement she also Chairs the SCC Change board.

In 2006 she was elected as Chair of the Hampshire Police Authority, having served on the board since her first election. She has been active in working on such difficult issues as anti-social behaviour and the safety of residents across the whole city, and more recently counter terrorism issues. She recognises the value of both police and Council working together to tackle the big issues that concern people who live and work in the Bevois Ward, and the wider Southampton Area.

Jacqui is married with grown up children and believes in fighting for a fairer society for all with good quality housing, job opportunities, and health equality.
