The Bandstand

Photo of Chris Walker band on bandstand

Southampton's Bandstand is situated in Palmerston Park, one of the beautiful central parks in the city.
Although just a few steps from the busy main shopping centre the parks offer cool shade, sunny seating areas and a peaceful tranquillity away from the hustle and bustle of city life.

Summer Events Programme
The Summer events programme runs from June - August with music on most Sunday afternoons between 2pm - 4pm.

Do you want to play on the Bandstand?
Bands and groups who can compliment the scene with gentle music are welcome.
The likes of wind ensembles, jazz and brass bands, string quartets can all add to the serene atmosphere and uplift the souls of those who amble by.

If you can offer acoustic sound for the Bandstand - we would like to hear from you.
All you need to do is complete an application form - 'Application to hold an Event in the Bandstand' which can be down loaded from the link found at the bottom of this page.

Your request will be considered by the relevant officers and if permitted, you will be able to play at the Bandstand free of charge.

Please note that:

  • A Risk Assessment must be submitted before your event application can be fully considered

  • It is a condition of the terms and conditions that the organiser must hold appropriate Public Liability Insurance to at least £5 million, unless otherwise agreed with the City Council.

The completed signed contract, together with a photocopy of your Public Liability insurance document must be in place at least 7 days prior to your proposed event.

Please note: the Bandstand is not available for private events.

If you require further information on holding an event on the bandstand or would like to contact somebody about this page please email events@southampton.gov.uk
