Southampton City Council Press Releases

Councillor Noon appointment
22/06/2012

Councillor John Noon has been appointed the new cabinet member for Efficiency and Improvement at Southampton City Council. Cllr Noon is a councillor for Bargate ward, and has spent most of the last 26 years either as a county councillor or a city councillor.

The leader of the council, Cllr Richard Williams, said:

“With a funding shortfall of £45 million in the next two years, we have a huge job to do to improve and maintain services. While all cabinet members have these issues at the top of their agenda, Cllr Noon will provide an overview and driving force to see these changes through.”

Cllr Noon said:

“In the past four years Richard Williams has taken our party and now the city council forward into a new direction. I am pleased that Cllr Williams has confidence in me and I’m hopeful that I can repay that confidence by delivering improved services to Southampton residents even in such difficult times.

“I do understand the challenge is going to be a difficult one but if I can get it right I can make a massive difference to the way the council works.”
