Employers to showcase opportunites at St Mary's stadium event
The Careers and Apprenticeship Show will provide a one stop destination for careers and apprenticeships in the Solent area. This exciting event will link employers with students and their parents/carers to showcase career and apprenticeship opportunities.
Taking place on the 14 May at St Mary’s stadium the event will enable attendees to learn what apprenticeships are available and what opportunities exist. The first part of the day will be school focused with the aim of introducing year 10 students to aspirational apprenticeship opportunities, helping them to make the right choices post-16 and think about how they prepare for competitive applications. Part two of the Careers and Apprenticeship show is designed to show case real opportunities that young people can prepare for, following the completion of their post-16 education. It has a strong focus on Apprenticeships – in particular higher and degree opportunities. The post -16 part of the event will be specifically focused on options at the end of year 13. Part three of the event is open to a wider audience that will include parents/carers, other post-16 young people, adults and professionals who advise and guide on apprenticeship applications.
Students will be able to gain access to impartial career advice, and can also talk to employers and investigate what levels of apprenticeships are offered by businesses.
If you are an employer, then this is your opportunity to showcase what you do and gain access to schools and students looking for training and a career in an organisation like yours.
Many young people are unsure what an Apprenticeship is, how to get one and what it would do for them career-wise. We want to reach as many local young people as we can to give them the information they need to make informed choices.
This activity is funded by Southern Universities Network, Solent LEP, Southampton Solent University and the Apprenticeship Hub as a means of promoting Apprenticeship participation for economic growth. Employers can register to exhibit at the show through the Eventbrite website. There is also an Eventbrite page where parents / carers and professionals who work with young people can register to attend the show.
