Children and young people

If you think a child is in immediate danger, please call the emergency services on 999.

If you are concerned about the general health, welfare and safety of any child, but feel there is no immediate danger, please contact us by one of the methods below, or fill in an anonymous form online using the link in the box on the right.

If you are contacting us out of office hours, please contact the Emergency Duty Team.

The process

If a social worker is already involved with the family, you will be put through to the correct Locality Children in Need Team (East, West or Central).

If a child is not currently known to a social worker, you will be put through to Children First Team, where Information Officers will discuss the information you have and may advise or signpost you to other services, or take a referral for allocation to a social worker.

For more information on the steps involved in investigating an allegation of child abuse, please see our Child Protection pages.
