Wills and Testaments
Executors are the people who will be responsible for carrying out your wishes and for sorting out your estate. The estate is all of your assets (your house, your car, your personal items).
They will have to collect together all the assets of the estate, deal with all the paperwork and pay all the debts, taxes, funeral and administration costs out of money in the estate.
By making a will you can decide what happens to your property and possessions after your death. Although you don't need to make a Will by law, it is the best way to make sure that your estate is passed onto family and friends exactly as you wish.
If you die without a Will, your assets may be distributed according to the law rather than your wishes.
The Citizens Advice Bureau can provide assistance and advice if needed.
