What’s going on at Hinkler Parade?
Southampton City Council is working with residents to develop exciting plans for the proposed redevelopment of the Hinkler Parade area.
In April, Councillors agreed to start consulting tenants and the wider community, with a view to pulling together plans and designs for new homes and shops on the site. This is an exciting opportunity to design out antisocial behaviour and vandalism and to create new homes and shops which are much needed by the community. A decision will be made in November on whether to go ahead with a scheme.
If it goes ahead Hinkler Parade will be a pilot that could result in a huge investment in estates across the city if it is rolled out further.These improvements could really improve the quality of life for residents and businesses in Hinkler Parade.

How can you get involved?
Tell us what you would like to see on the site! What is really important to the people of Thornhill? What shops and facilities do you want? Complete one of our questionnaires to let us know what you think, either here online or at one of several events throughout the summer, so look out for details of these. In September the Solent Centre for Architecture and Design will be holding a Design Festival where people will be able to come along and talk about ideas for the new development, so there are plenty of chances to have your say.
