Details of service:

Where people live influences their opportunities in life. If you live in one of the country's most disadvantaged areas your choices may be very limited, schools may not be good, businesses could be struggling, public transport and housing may be poor. Often the people who live in these areas have little choice over where and how they live.

Neighbourhood renewal aims to help these areas by working with the communities to develop stable businesses, more job opportunities and a safer place to live with better schools, good homes and a sense of community.

The Governments strategy for neighbourhood renewal was launched in January 2001 and works with national, regional and local partners to attain its target.
