Cumbrian Way

Cumbrian Way shopping parade is located in the Millbrook area on the west side of Southampton and is in the Millbrook ward. 37 – 55 (odds) Cumbrian Way was a local shopping centre built to serve the immediate neighbourhood. The site also included the local housing office.

Part of Cumbrian Way Shopping Parade, where the Headway clinic used to be, has been developed to provide 16 new council homes under the Local Authority New Build Scheme. Details can be found by clicking on ‘New Council Homes’ in the left hand menu on this page.

• Cabinet approved the disposal of Cumbrian Way Shopping Parade to Radian Group on 11 April 2011
• Radian Group and Drew Smith will be undertaking this redevelopment
• Planning Permission was granted on 17 April 2012 to build 50 new homes and two new shops: (You will find a link to planning application at the bottom of this page)

12 x low cost home ownership:
12 x 2 bed flats

22 x affordable rent:
12 x 3 bed houses
10 x 2 bed flats

Commercial units totalling 134sqm

• Urban Rescue carried out a live exercise in May 2012. Photos are available in the image gallery in the left hand menu
• Highways work commenced at Helvellyn Road in August 2012
• Permanent Stopping Up Orders granted to enable development to commence
• Helvellyn Road is now a one way system

• Highways work to be completed at Helvellyn Road April 2013
• Start on site estimated April 2013
• Completion estimated March 2015
