The picture on the left is a current view of Meggeson Avenue. The picture on the right is an artist's impression of how Meggeson Avenue could look once the building work is completed.

Meggeson Avenue site is located in the Townhill Park area of the north east side of Southampton and is in the Bitterne Park Ward. The site is one block and includes the car park at the rear and open space surrounding the block.

The redevelopment will complement the design of the newly built adjoining community centre. To find out more about the community centre, follow the link provided below.

Background

Following a tendering process, Lovell Partnership Limited in partnership with First Wessex have been appointed the Preferred Developer.

Planning permission was granted 22 November 2012 for 33 new homes:

Private Homes (12)
4 x 1 bed flats
5 x 2 bed flats
6 x 3 bed flats

Affordable Rent Homes (10)
6 x 2 bed flats
4 x 3 bed houses

Shared Ownership (11)
2 x 1 bed flats
9 x 2 bed flats

  • Site hoarded June 2012

  • Demolition completed August 2012

  • Stopping Up Order published 18 October 2012

What happens next?

The developer is on site and has commenced work. The proposed programme (subject to change):

  • diversion of public footpath - October 2013
  • completion April 2014
