Garden Waste Collection Service

Cartoon image of a person adding garden waste to a garden waste bin

Due to increased financial pressures and the need to prioritise key services, we have had to make some tough decisions and charging for garden waste collections is one of those decisions. The free garden waste service ended in March 2013.

A new and improved service

Southampton residents who still want the convenience of doorstep collections can sign up for the new chargeable garden waste collection service. This improved service provides two sizes of wheeled bins and fortnightly collections throughout the year, from April 2013 to March 2014. The 240 litre bin is the same size as the standard rubbish and recycling bin and is equivalent to two and a half of the old garden bags. A 360 litre bin is available at a higher cost if you have a large amount of garden waste to dispose of on a regular basis.

For more information about the scheme, please see the Frequently Asked Questions.

Special Offer for Southampton Residents. For a limited period Southampton residents are able to purchase compost bins and Green Johannas (food digester) at a very special price. Click here for more details
