In Southampton last year, 1,273 tonnes of glass were collected from the local bottle banks. Recycling glass reduces the quantity going to landfill sites, reducing disposal costs and extending the life of our landfill sites.
There are over 80 glass recycling banks located throughout Southampton, where you can recycle you glass bottles and jars.

What can be recycled?
You can recycle all of your glass bottles and jars, but not other glass items such as pyrex containers, crockery or lightbulbs. You can put any blue glass into the green section of the bottle bank.
